Why I'm Adding Parkour to the Change Activation Workshop (And What This Means for Your Organization)
I accepted an invitation to try Parkour last week without really knowing what I was getting into.
The first 30 minutes? Brutal functional training that had me questioning this crazy life decision. My muscles screamed. My mind begged me to quit. Nothing about it felt safe, fun or comfortable.
But I stayed. And that decision revealed something profound about how we actually develop the capacity to adapt.
When the Real Learning Began
Once the brutal warmup ended, the actual Parkour started. Suddenly, I wasn't just exercising—I was problem-solving with my entire body.
Every obstacle became a puzzle:
How do I approach this wall?
Can I actually make that jump?
What if I fail trying?
The instructor's words hit home for me:
"Parkour is all about finding the solutions to the obstacles along your way through rhythm, flow, and adaptation."
That's when it clicked.
This wasn't just physical training. This was adaptability training at a neurological level.
The Principles That Transferred
As I navigated each challenge, I recognized the exact principles I teach in my Future Proof workshops:
Self Awareness – Checking in with that initial reaction when your mind says "We can’t handle this".
Emotional Regulation – Build your resilience muscle to keep learning and moving forward when change is happening.
Mental Flexibility – Creating new neural pathways rather than defaulting to old patterns
Real-Time Adaptation – Responding to what IS, not what you wish it would be
By the end of the class, we had transformed:
From "I can't do this" to "I just DID that"
From fear to flow
From resistance to confidence
We all left sore, exhausted, and fundamentally changed in how we saw our own capacity to adapt.
Why This Matters for Organizations
Here's the truth most leadership development programs won't tell you:
You cannot build adaptability through just a talk or training.
You can talk about change management frameworks. You can review case studies of successful pivots. You can discuss the importance of agility.
But none of that rewires how people actually respond when uncertainty hits.
Real adaptability is embodied. It lives in your nervous system, in your muscle memory, in the split-second decisions you make when the ground shifts beneath you.
That's why I'm actively trying and curating experiential activations for the Change Activation Worskhop I offer to corporate teams—not random "team building" activities, but carefully selected challenges that are integrated into a complete workshop and align with the core principles of changeability.
Each experience is chosen because it helps participants to practice the exact skills they need to navigate organizational change:
Adapting in real-time when plans fall apart
Regulating emotions under pressure
Building trust in themselves and their team
Creating new responses instead of defaulting to paralysis.
The Evolution of Future Proof
When I founded Atrevidea and developed the Future Proof methodology, I knew from my own "addiction to change" that adaptability isn't theoretical—it's practiced.
Over the past years, I've delivered keynotes and workshops to 10,000+ leaders at organizations like LEGO, PepsiCo, L’Oreal, and Meta. The feedback has been consistently powerful. But I've also noticed something:
The real transformation happens when people don't just learn about changeability—they experience it.
That's why the Future Proof offering is evolving into a three-part immersive experience:
The Framework – Keynotes and workshops deliver the methodology, personal stories, and practical tools
The Activation – Experiential challenges that rewire how teams respond to change in real-time
The Integration – The book provides ongoing access to frameworks, exercises, and self-reflection tools you can revisit anytime, anywhere
This is about answering the question that keeps HR leaders and executives up at night: How do we build a workforce that thrives through change?
Here's the uncomfortable truth: Most leadership development programs teach people about the theory of adaptability without ever making them practice it.
Your team learns the theory. They understand the frameworks. They nod along in the training.
But when real change hits—a restructuring, a market shift, a strategic pivot—they freeze. They resist. They default to the same protective patterns that slow your organization down.
Why?
Because adaptability lives in the body, not the brain. It's coded in your nervous system's response to threat. It's practiced through real-time decision-making under pressure. It's built by doing hard things and discovering you're more capable than you thought.
You can't download that from a PowerPoint.
The organizations winning right now are the ones whose people can pivot faster, stay present under pressure, and find opportunity in disruption.
That capacity becomes your competitive advantage in an era of constant change.
This is what the Future Proof Experience delivers.
